TESTIMONIAL
Its realistic physiological simulations and diverse scenarios challenge residents to apply critical thinking and clinical skills.
Emmanuel Daon, M.D.

As a cardiac surgeon and faculty member at the Society of Thoracic Surgery Resident’s Bootcamp, I’ve had the privilege of incorporating the CALIFIA® simulator into our training program for the past several years. This software is truly exceptional in its ability to realistically simulate human physiology — allowing us to present residents with a wide array of scenarios and challenge them to analyze patient conditions and make critical decisions in real time.
The user-friendly interface is a significant advantage. But what truly sets it apart is the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from residents. They consistently rate our station as one of the top two that most accurately represents the technical and clinical skills required for proficiency in cardiac surgery.
Residents consistently rate our station as one of the most representative of real-world cardiac surgery skills.
I’m particularly impressed with the recently introduced silicone heart model. It’s a substantial improvement over the pig hearts we previously used. The silicone heart offers several advantages: it’s much cleaner, the aorta can be used repeatedly without degradation, and the depth of the thoracic well provides a realistic environment for practicing suturing in confined spaces.
In my professional opinion, the CALIFIA® simulator is an outstanding product. Its potential for enhancing surgical training within my own institution is clear and significant. The combination of realistic physiological simulation and high-fidelity physical models makes it an invaluable tool for developing the next generation of cardiac surgeons.
